Why taking blood pressure tablets at bedtime could prevent an early death 

Taking blood pressure tablets at bedtime rather than in the morning, lowers the risk of early death, a study suggests. 

A new trial into chronotherapy – the practice of matching drugs to specific times of day – found that people who took their anti-hypertensive medication at night nearly halved their risk of dying from a heart attack, stroke or heart failure.

The study involved more than 19,000 people who were followed for an average of six years, with 1,752 deaths during the period due to heart or blood vessel problems, meaning their absolute risk of dying was around 9 per cent.
